April grinned all teeth and pointed to the house next door.
I sighed and said "After a really bad break up a couple of months ago, I really just keep to myself... and at work, it gets so busy that I just..." I exhaled and said "Now I notice you, can we start from there?" April was smiling and said "Maybe. I'll go take a shower and give you time to clean your place, then I'll..." April stopped and asked "What? What is it?" I smiled and stood saying "Look for yourself, it's clean. It's always clean". April stood, her perfect body was very close to mine, she stared into my eyes and said "Prove it". We went inside and April was not shy, she looked in every room, and standing in the doorway of the second bedroom she asked "Why is this room empty?" I shrugged and said "I live alone. I can afford this place by myself, so no roommates". April stared at me for a moment then said "Hmmm... no girlfriend, good looking and polite, sort of flirty, has a good job and a nice place. You need a girlfriend who could appreciate all those qualities". I sighed and April smiled then said "Show me the rest". She looked in the bathroom and said "This is impressive, the whole place is clean". I muttered "Squared away" mostly to myself, but April heard me and said "I agree".
April went to my bedroom and asked "Wow, okay... do you like Marvel or what?" I smiled and April touched my face and asked "Tell me again why she broke up with you?" I closed my eyes and said "She said I had no initiative, would never amount to anything, and was too clingy. Supposedly I smothered her". April shook her head and said "She better hope I never meet her, what a bitch. She has no idea what she threw away". I didn't know what to say so I shrugged and April moved close to me and asked "Are you always this nice?" I nodded and April said "Yes". Yes? To what? I asked her "Yes to what?" April smiled and said "To the question you're going to ask me". I swear she wanted to kiss, or was waiting for me to kiss her. I must have thought too hard because April went to the kitchen, looked in the fridge, then said "I'll be back in 20 minutes and we'll go get what we need to fix a nice dinner. No cliches, we'll fix it together and maybe by then that question will come to you". Dinner? Shopping together and then dinner? I was three blocks past confused, but I asked April "20 minutes?" She smiled and said "Probably more like 15. I'm not high maintenance, so if that's your thing... sorry".
I blinked and April was gone. Dinner? Wow.
It was actually closer to 12 minutes, and despite being half naked in skin tight spandex moments ago, when April knocked once and walked in I lost my breath. Her long black hair was brushed and down but still damp, a major turn on for me. April was wearing khaki shorts that fit her well and a pair of tank tops, pink over white. Light blue bra straps peeked out here and there, different pink and white New balance sneakers and April was casual and sexy with that killer smile. Almost in unison mom and April said "We know each other". Normandy circled my feet and barked so I said "Bye bye" and she barked and ran to my truck. April said "Okay, we can talk later about how I knew your mother and didn't know you, but why Normandy?"
Mom said "I'm going back to my shows honey, why don't you bring April over with you for BATES MOTEL. You're still coming right?" I said "I am, it's up to April". April had this look and mom asked "Are you guys dating?" April asked "Yeah... are we?" I blinked and mom said "Okay, I know when to leave. I expect you both over there in time for the show" and mom went inside. April said "I'll go over with you, but I really think you need to ask that question". I had no idea what the question was, but now I was wondering the same thing mom was... were we dating? We got into the truck and like a traitor, Normandy sat on April's lap and leaned out the window. I grinned and drove to Hannaford while April talked about the things we had in common. She had seen every Marvel movie in the theatre, just like me, played videogames, and worked at Best Buy... which made no sense because I go in there all the time. April asked "Normandy? I'm guessing from MASS EFFECT?" I said "Bingo, she's dropped" and April said "Oh my God, you did not just quote Al Pacino from SEA OF LOVE". I said "I have all kinds of movie quotes. It's kinda my thing". We pulled into Hannaford and April said "Just park and talk to me before we go inside".
I did and she said "I'm throwing hints and signs at you and I know you're interested, so what gives?" I said "Well, I was wondering if we're dating. We get along great and we're here to shop for stuff to make dinner. Are we dating?" April asked "Do you know what the question is? The one I already said yes to after seeing how clean your apartment was?" I grinned and asked "You're going to sleep with me?" April laughed and said "Man, you've got some balls. Yesterday you didn't even notice me and even though I was all around you, you had no idea who I was. Then you blow me away with that shit?" I said "Sorry, poor humor". April said "I call bullshit. I think you do want to sleep with me and you know what, maybe I do too. The question you idiot is will you go out with me". I grinned and said "Yes" and April blinked rapidly then said "I... uh... you were supposed to ask me out". I shrugged and said "Maybe, but this is a better story. Let's go shopping". I got out of the truck and said to Normandy "Guard the truck". Normandy barked and April got out of the truck then walked right up to me, slammed me against the side of it, and kissed me furiously. I was stunned and breathless when she stepped back and said "Now let's go shopping".
I locked the truck and pocketed the keys and April shoved her phone into my back pocket then held my hand. We were walking towards the store and April said "Two rules and they are not negotiable. Don't compare me to or bring up exes. They're exes for a reason and we're in the now. Second, smothering and clingy is bullshit. I want to be in a relationship with someone who wants me so you better bring it because I sure as Hell will. Also, I don't do well with mine and yours or secrets. If you're with me, we both have to be all in". I said "So basically, you're exactly what I have been looking for all my life, plus you're hotter than fire and not afraid to speak your mind". April stopped walking and asked "Did you just say I was hotter than fire? Did you really say that?" I nodded and she stared into my eyes and said "You keep tightening the bolt and I will definitely sleep with you. In the soda aisle we both reached for a 12 pack of Wild Cherry Pepsi and April said "No way". I nodded and said "Cool Ranch Doritos". April nodded then said "Taco Bell". We agreed on fruit, vegetables, favorite colors, even TV shows. I sucked in a slow deep breath then asked "BATTLEFIELD or CALL OF DUTY?" April blinked a couple of times and said "Well, I think that BATTLEFIELD has the better storyline and single player, but zombies and the multiplayer on COD is better". I sighed and April said "You realize with all this love and happiness, when we do fight it's probably going to be legendary?" I said "Yeah, but American Idol was rigged and SURVIVOR isn't as good as it used to be". April shook her head and said "Did you notice how they streamlined this season of THE APPRENTICE?" I said "7 episodes and they were rushed" and April said "Yeah, I thought so too". At the cashier, April tried to pay but I asked "Why don't you pay next time?" She stared at me for a moment then said "Okay, but if you think I'm gonna let you pay all the time, you're crazy. I told you what my pet peeve was".
I stayed silent until we got to the truck then said "April, I believe in my heart I was supposed to meet you. I never sit on my porch and you came up to me, remember?" April was helping load the bags and said "You just looked so... hot, and... I was tired of you not noticing me". I said "I notice you" and held April as she sighed then kissed me softly. We were still kissing when Normandy barked and I said "She needs to pee". April went to the truck, led Normandy over to some grass, and I loaded the rest of the groceries. I carried everything in and fed Normandy, and then April was standing in my small living room with a Xbox One controller and a shoulder bag. I said "I have two controllers" and she said "Oh, well... I can take it home later. Can you put this on the bed?" I took the bag and noticed clothes stuffed in it and grinned at April. She said "Sleep and sex are not the same thing. Make sure you're clear on that". We made dinner with alot of flirting, touching and kissing. We cleaned up from dinner and sat on the couch kissing when April asked "What are your goals?" I said "I don't have any, that's why Jenny broke up with me, remember?" April sighed and asked "What was our deal?" I said "April. I won't dwell, I promise, but you asked me a question so I answered it". April sighed and said "Okay, sorry. So why don't you have any goals?" I shrugged and said "I guess I never needed them. Suddenly I'm 30 and I have a good job, a nice apartment, my parents are healthy, what else could I want?" April exhaled slowly then said "John, I'm 29 and want to own a home someday. Some place that is mine and I can be proud of. I want children, or at least a child, and I want someone to love and be loved by. I'm not saying you need to propose and get me pregnant, but you have to have some kind of goal".
I grinned and said "I do. I have one that I didn't have yesterday". April smiled and said "Let me guess? In this goal do I end up naked?" I grinned wider and April said "I meant what I said before, you've got some balls. What if I got upset by you talking about sex just hours into dating me?" I pulled away and said "April, I apologize. I'm not that guy. A vibe I get from you is that I can be forward and honest. I swear I'm not that guy". April said "I don't think you are. Relax. I packed clothes to spend the night after knowing you for about three hours. I don't think you're that guy. Of all the cliched Karma or Fate possible moments, that was when there was a knock on the door and I gasped "You can't be serious". April looked at the door and asked "Who's that?" I could barely think and had trouble speaking but I muttered "Jenny". April gasped "Jenny Jenny? Your ex?" I nodded and tried to think as Jenny knocked a second time and April asked "Why is she here?" I had no clue. I hadn't seen Jenny in weeks, we hadn't spoken in that same amount of time... why was she here?
I said "I think one of the cashiers at Hannaford is her friend. She must have called or texted her when she saw you with me". The door opened and Jenny came in and said "I know you heard me knocking... oh... who are you?" April stood and said "I'm April, his girlfriend. You're Jenny, his ex". Jenny smiled and said "Right. Well, so Carly wasn't lying. I came to see how you were and ask who the girl Carly saw you with was, but here she is". April said "Here I am". I sat there stunned as the girl I gave my heart to stood there staring at the girl of my dreams. This couldn't possibly end well. Especially since Jenny broke my heart and April was not afraid to speak her mind. I stood and was about to ask Jenny a question when April smiled at me, slid her arm around me, then sighed. Okay, nevermind. I don't even remember what the question was, so I asked Jenny "Why today? I haven't heard from you in weeks. You ignore my texts, send me to voicemail, you even blocked me on Facebook". April interrupted and said "That reminds me" and she pulled her phone from out of my back pocket. I had forgotten it was there. Her fingers flew while Jenny and I stared at her then she went over to my laptop and asked "What's the password?"
Jenny smiled and said "Jenny girl, all one word, no caps". April blinked several times and I sighed and said "Not anymore". April smiled at Jenny and asked "Well? What is it?" I swallowed and said "Uh... it's... heh... it's burn in Hell. All one word, no caps". Jenny gasped and said "That's rude" then just left without even closing the door. April just laughed and asked "Was it something you said?" I moved over to stand behind April and she said "First of all, your new password is now Normandy, no caps. I also added each other as friends and changed our status. I told you I don't do things halfway. How much do you think it costs to rent a billboard?" I grinned and said "Just give me a picture of you or us and I'll put it up at work. Half the city including the mayor shops in my store, will that work?" April was twisted in the chair to face me and said "So since you like forward and I don't do games, how about this. On a one hundred scale, with 100 being you see me naked and enjoy all that comes with it, you are now halfway, definitely in the 50's". I gasped "Damn" and April said "Like I said, when we do have a fight, it might level the block".
I was in a daze and turned on the Xbox but instead of complaining, April said "Good idea. I was thinking things I shouldn't be thinking". I gasped "Do you even have a filter?" April stood and patted her pockets, her tummy, cupped her breasts, opened a couple of drawers, then went and looked in the fridge. I watched her until she said "I guess not". I waved him inside and he said "John, your mother wants you to come over early. She baked some cupcakes and wants April to come with you. I can't leave here until you both come with me so let's go". I huffed and said "Okay dad" and grabbed my phone, April shoved hers back in my pocket, and we went next door. Normandy barked and shared kisses with Charlie and Bella, my mom's dogs. We went to the kitchen and mom said "You should close some blinds. We could see the two of you kissing over here. You can do that stuff later, I made cupcakes". April whispered "You better close the bedroom blinds or you'll be sleeping alone". I grinned and mom said "No secrets. Share with the class".
I swallowed and tried to think of a lie but April shocked me and said "I told him he better close the bedroom blinds or I won't be sleeping over". Mom laughed and said "I forgot you tell it like it is. How's he dealing with your honesty?" I sighed and April said "Mostly all right, some occasional gasps". I got a Cherry Pepsi out of the fridge and April grabbed it and said "Thanks". I sighed and took another and mom just winked at me and handed me a cupcake. We sat and talked until BATES MOTEL came on and it was over before we realized no one had said a word. Mom said "I say this every week, but I don't get why they cancelled it?" I said "Me either, it gets better each season". April said "Probably salaries. THE BIG BANG THEORY cast gets like a million per episode each... that's what I heard". Mom said "I can tell he wants to go, so I'll walk you out. April, will you still go on walks with me? She said "Yup, and so will lazy". I sighed and April said "To get the reward, you have to put in the work". I didn't like to walk across the room let alone around the city, so I asked "What exactly is the reward?" April smiled and said "Me". I sighed and said "Okay" and mom said "April, give me just a minute honey?" April watched Normandy as she sniffed the grass looking for the perfect spot.
Mom said "You know I don't meddle, so I'm just going to say this. Jenny was a snot but she was softer, quiet and went at a slower pace. April is full speed forward so you're not going to get to just lay around and play videogames if you want this". I sighed and mom said "I didn't like Jenny and I told you that repeatedly. I like April and can see the two of you are like thunder and lightning. Just open your mind and forget Jenny. I love you". I hugged mom and said "I love you too". Mom said "Bring me your laundry in the morning and tell me ahead of time if there are going to be surprises". I smiled and mom said "Now get, I have to remind your father why he married me". I said "Ewww..." but mom narrowed her eyes and said "You wouldn't be here, so don't start" and mom shut the door on me. Okay then. We let Normandy in and I asked April "Are you really going to spend the night with me?" She smiled and said "70" then shut and locked the door. Holy shit... 70? I grabbed a Cherry Pepsi and went to the bedroom and April followed me and asked "Is it bedtime already? Damn, what are you 12?" I laughed and said "Nope, just can't wait to get you into bed?" April sighed and asked "Is that right?"
I smiled and stripped off my shirt, put it in the laundry basket, took off my shoes and waited for April's. She handed them to me and I took them to the front door, shut off all the lights, then went back to the bedroom to find April standing there in just a sexy light blue bra and panties.
