Abducted By DG Hear

A suspense story that is a little different. Very little sex if that's what you're looking for, so please don't read if you're going to be disappointed. A big ‘Thank You' to Estragon for making my story a much better read.

Chapter 1

I'm Terry Bell and this is my story. It's funny how lives can be changed so quickly. It all started the day I went on a fishing trip with two of my friends.

My wife Abby was sitting in her office for about an hour when she received the phone call. "Is this Abigail Bell?" the caller asked.

"Yes it is, how can I help you?"

"We've abducted your husband and holding him for a two hundred fifty thousand dollar ransom. You have twenty-four hours to get the money together or your husband dies. If you notify the police, he dies. I'll call you again at three o'clock at your house and give you directions for getting me the money."

"Is this a joke? Who are you?" Abby was scared and stunned. She wasn't sure what to do. I went fishing with my friends on Lake Erie for three days. I didn't even take my cell phone, because we didn't want anything interrupting this fishing trip with my two friends.

****

Me and my friends were out on my yacht on Lake Erie drinking beer and fishing, having a good old time. We never got away that often and all of us really enjoyed fishing. My yacht was a pretty good size, a 35-footer that could even sleep six if they were friendly, although we rented a cabin to stay in at night. We took this camping and fishing trip once a year for the last six of years.

As I was sucking down another brew, the Coast Guard came toward us at a high rate of speed, stopping next to the yacht. With weapons drawn they asked, "Is one of you men Terry Bell?"

"That would be me," I answered. "What the hell is wrong that you need to pull guns on us?"

"Sorry Sir, but we were asked to locate you. We were told that you were abducted and there is a ransom being asked."

"I can assure you that I am well and good. These are my two friends Joe and Al. They are also two of my employees. We came out here to fish for a few days. We decided no cell phones. We didn't want to be bothered, just wanted to fish. Would you mind pointing your weapons in another direction?"

"Sorry, Mr. Bell. We would like to board your yacht and take a look around. Do you have any weapons on board?"

"Just the standard flare guns and other emergency items you would expect on a yacht. You're welcome aboard."

They gave a quick search of the boat and checked the ID's of the three of us. Afterward they apologized but asked me if I would go with them. The police needed to talk with me at my house.

"Joe, Al, go ahead and enjoy the fishing. I'll see if I can make it back to the cabin tonight or tomorrow. No use in ruining your vacation. If for some reason I don't make it back, make sure the boat is docked and tied down securely. Clean and lock up the cabin and drop off the keys."

I left with the Coast Guard and headed to shore.

****

I met Al and Joe in prison twelve years earlier. I was convicted of accepting stolen property, which I'll explain later. Joe and Al also met up in prison. They both did time for assault and battery. It seems each had found their wives cheating on them and beat up his wife's lover. They could have been put in prison for attempted murder, but plea bargained it down to assault and battery. Needless to say they both got divorced.

While in prison the three of us had become good friends and had each other's back.

When I was soon up for parole, I told them that after I got out that I would do whatever I could to help them out when the time came for their parole. I had served three years before being released on parole.

My dad owned a salvage yard. I'd worked for Dad ever since high school, and eventually took over the business when Dad became ill and passed away.

A year after I was released from prison, Al and Joe were both up for parole. At the hearing, Dad and I told the Parole Board that we had jobs for both men in the salvage yard.

They needed a place to live and Dad mentioned to the Board that next to the salvage yard, he owned a mobile home court and that he would rent Al and Joe each a trailer to live in. Since they had a job offer and a place to live, they both got out of prison.

The paroles happened eight years ago and both men had Dad and me to thank. They were great employees and also now good friends of mine. They were each able to buy a used car at a good price at the salvage yard.

They became mechanics and tow motor drivers. They were Jack of all trades, there wasn't anything that they couldn't do at the salvage yard. All they needed was a new beginning. They even began dating and eventually got married and had homes of their own, each starting a family. There was no doubt that they were grateful to Dad and I for helping them out. They continued to work for us and were well paid.

****

The police took me home since I didn't have my vehicle. As I walked in the door, Abby ran up to me and hugged me. "Thank God, you're safe! I was so worried about you. Where were you?"

"Out on the damn lake fishing until the Coast Guard came up to the boat with weapons pulled! What the hell is going on?"

A man stepped forward. "I'm Detective Able; I'm in charge of this case. We need to know your whereabouts for the last twenty-four hours."

"Bullshit! You guys took me away from my fishing vacation and I want to know why before I tell you a damn thing."

"Fair enough. Your wife called us this morning and said she got a call at her work and that she was told that you were abducted and a ransom of two -hundred-fifty thousand dollars was asked. The caller said he would be calling at your home at three o'clock. We're set up and waiting for the call."

"This has got to be some kind of sick joke. Who the hell would try and abduct me? I own a goddamn salvage yard and a trailer park. You think they want car parts or a used single-wide? Abby, did they say anything else?"

"They said, ‘You have twenty-four hours to get the money together or your husband dies. If you notify the police, he dies. I'll call you again at three at your house and give you directions for getting me the money.' I was so scared."

"They told you if you called the police they would kill me and you went ahead and called them anyway. Jesus Christ, if this was for real I could be dead!" Abby started crying.

"Mr. Bell, your wife made the right decision. She didn't know what to do. There is no way she could have handled this on her own."

"It's easy for you to say, it wasn't your fucking life in jeopardy. Mother fuck! What happens now? I'm fine, can't you all just get the hell out of my house? You can see I'm ok."

"Mr. Bell, we have to take every threat like this seriously. We will stay here and see if another call comes in. Now could you tell us about your whereabouts for the last twenty-four hours?"

"Sure! Joe and Al picked me up early yesterday morning. We rented a cabin on the lake for four days. We drove over and got my boat and headed out to fish. We came in last evening and cooked, ate and relaxed at the cabin. This morning we ate breakfast and headed out again until we were accosted by the Coast Guard. You know the rest."

It was almost three and the detective and officers set up a phone tracer on the kitchen table. He was going to have Abby in there to talk to the possible suspects if a call came through. I sat in the living room with two other detectives and drank coffee. They had a speaker phone on the coffee table so we all could hear any conversation.

Detective Able mentioned to Abby to say that she contacted her lawyer so she could get help getting the money together in case the call came through. The Detective was going to play the part of the lawyer. I just sat back and shook my head. I told the other officers, "dammit, I could be fishing."

The phone did ring at exactly three o'clock and Abby answered it. "Mrs. Bell, nice to see you went home early to take my call. Do you have the money ready?" asked the caller. The voice was disguised.

"Not yet, I contacted my lawyer to help me get the money," replied Abby.

"What? I told you if you contacted anyone your husband would be dead. Did you contact the police too?"

"No, no, just my lawyer. I'm sorry but I wasn't sure how to get this money together. You just told me not to notify the police. Please don't hurt my husband."

"Put the fucking lawyer on." She did as she was told and Detective Able took the phone.

"This is John Wells, I'm the attorney for the Bells. What do you want exactly?" We knew he was just wasting time and trying to get a trace on the phone.

"What the fuck is this! We want the fucking money or Bell dies! Is that plain enough? If we find out either you or Mrs. Bell called the authorities, he dies. This isn't some fucking game."

"I'm not playing a game either. Before we give you that kind of money we need to know you have Mr. Bell and that he is alive."

We could hear commotion on the other end of the phone. Then we all heard a voice. "Abby, it's me Larry. These masked men came in an abducted me right after you left the hotel this morning. Please give them what they want. Please!" Next we heard a thump and a groan. It sounded like someone was hit in the stomach.

"Mother fuck," I said. "That's my fucking loser brother Larry. What the fuck does he mean you were with him this morning?"

"As you see, Sweet Abby. We know you've been lying to us. Was that your husband yelling in the background? Does he know you've been fucking his brother? It seems that we got the wrong Bell. You see we went to the salvage yard yesterday and were told that Mr. Bell went on vacation for a few days.

"We went by your house yesterday morning to see if he left yet when we saw that you were leaving. We followed you to the hotel. Your room was registered to Mr. and Mrs. Bell, so of course we assumed it was your husband. After you left the motel this morning we abducted the wrong Mr. Bell. He told us over and over that we had the wrong man. We didn‘t believe him till he told us he had a twin brother."

"What do you want now that you don‘t have Terry Bell?" asked the Detective posing as the lawyer.

"Three hundred thousand dollars by nine tomorrow morning or Larry Bell dies. The extra money is for the fucking lies and trouble we went through. We'll call you tomorrow morning where to bring the money. No more games, no money, he dies!"

The caller hung up and I got up and started yelling at Abby. "You goddamn fuckin' slut! So now you're fucking my brother! I won't give a damn dime to save his ass! The creeps that got him will just save me from killing him myself."

Two officers got between me and Abby and asked me to please sit down. I went to the fridge and got myself a beer and turned on the TV set. "I'll have nothing to do with my gigolo brother or my whore of a wife. As soon as this charade is over, we'll be getting a divorce."

The detective told Abby that he needed to know if what the abductors said was true. He needed to know her every move from the time she left her house the morning before. She was really upset and crying but I acted like she wasn't even there. I didn‘t care anymore.

Abby did explain to the detective, but tried to talk so I couldn't hear, but I heard everything. She did meet Larry at the motel. His wife thought he was out of town. They had been lovers for a few months now. I sat there getting madder and madder for being played for a chump.

"After dinner last night we went to our room. I'm not telling you about our making love," replied Abby.

I yelled out. "Love? My fucking brother has never loved anyone. He just wanted your skanky ass because you were married to me. He doesn't give a fuck about you and now, neither do I."

Abby continued talking but was now scared of me. She was glad the police were there. "This morning we said goodbye and I would see him tonight. I went to work so everything would look normal. When I got there and settled in, I received the phone call that my husband had been abducted. It was then I realized how worried I was about him. I didn't know what to do so I called the police. I've told you everything else."

"Were you expecting to go back to the room tonight?" asked the Detective.

Looking away from me, she answered, "Yes, we had the room for two nights".

"Fucking whore!" I yelled out.

One of the cops jumped up to restrain me, but I didn't get up, although I wanted to. One time in jail is enough.

****

Larry and I were indeed twin brothers. We might have looked the same but were worlds different. I loved mechanical things, whereas Larry was more interested in girls. We usually got along while growing up but it was because I was the forgiving one.

We both dated but Larry always went after my girlfriends. He was the more suave talker and usually ended up with the girl, dumping them after he got what he wanted. My philosophy was there was a lot of fish in the sea and if the girls wanted Larry so bad, so be it. I was never in love with any of them.

Our mother died of cancer when we were eighteen and we lived alone with our dad till we finished school. Larry wanted to go to college and become a salesman. He had the gift of gab and would be good at it. The only person Larry really cared about was himself.

I on the other hand worried about my father. He owned the salvage business for most of his life. It might have just been scrap metal and junk to most people but was worth over a million dollars. Most of the money was tied up in so-called inventory.

I didn't go to college. I stayed home and helped out my dad. We worked our asses off and helped build the business even more. Dad was really proud of me and of the business.

One night I went to a party and met a young woman. We began dating and within the year got married. She moved into the house with me and Dad. Eventually Dad told us that we could live in the house and he would live in one of his trailers in his trailer court. It was all he needed and would give us more privacy.

My wife Beth and I had two children in the next three years. Everything was going fine till Larry returned from college. One day I saw Larry trying to put the moves on Beth and we got into it. Being the stronger of the two, I knocked him on his ass and I screamed, "If you ever go near her again, I'll fucking kill you!"

Beth had never said a word. She knew to keep quiet when I was mad. I never accused her of anything and she was happy about that. I did have my suspicions. Neither Beth or Larry ever denied anything I had said.

Larry and I rarely saw each other after that day. We did talk but Larry kept his distance from Beth. After graduating college he got a job as a sales rep for a window and siding company. He often spent a couple of days a week on the road but it also gave him the opportunity to meet a lot of women.

He had the gift of gab and always was with women who had money. He would live with them for a while, and after using them he would find another. His job paid okay but nothing near the life style he wanted to live. He lived high on the hog because of the women he was with.

****

Twelve years had past since my marriage to Beth. We had a good marriage but now I always had suspicions about her. But our kids seemed fine. They were the reason I never pushed any cheating issues.

It was about that time when Dad had become ill. He had a stroke but seemed to be working through it. I went out of my way and called Larry and asked him if he would like to join the salvage firm and he just laughed at me saying, ‘He wanted nothing to do with our junk yard'.

Of course it made Lew, our dad, feel bad but I told him I would always be there for him. Then one day a man came in with a few vehicles he wanted to get rid of. Dad made him an offer under the table and he accepted it. Unfortunately, Dad had done it a few times throughout the years to get around paying extra taxes.

Because of this he never went through the trouble to check the vehicles against the VIN numbers. A few days later law enforcement came by with a search warrant. Apparently the man who sold the vehicles to Dad told the police he salvaged them at our lot.

They located the vehicles and were getting ready to arrest Dad on receiving stolen property. There was no way I was going to let Dad go to prison. I stepped forward to talk to the agents.

"Sir, I accepted those vehicles. My dad was never aware of it. I was going to do the registration but hadn't got around to it."

All they wanted was someone to arrest. I was arrested and pleaded no contest. I was found guilty and sentenced to five years in prison. My dad was distraught and told me he would do anything for me. I hugged my father and he had tears in his eyes and told me how sorry he was.

I knew the day I was sent away that Dad couldn't survive prison. He already had a heart condition and I didn't want him dying in prison alone.

Beth left me and filed for divorce two months after I was sent up. She said she didn't want to live alone. She got the kids of course, and soon started dating an insurance agent and married him a few months later. I was rather distraught at losing my kids, but said to hell with her.

I corresponded with Dad regularly. He came every month to see me. A couple of his cousins were helping Dad out. There wasn't much I could do from prison in the salvage business. At least Dad trusted his cousins who were a little younger than him.

I did meet Al and Joe while serving time. I thought they seemed like pretty decent guys. They each told me a similar story about catching their wife with their lover. In each case they beat them bad enough that the lovers had to be hospitalized. I could see where this could happen. I almost did it to my own brother.

I told them when they were up for parole I would do my best to help them out. I even talked to Dad about it and he agreed to hire the men when the time came.

After serving three years of my five-year sentence, I was released. I was happy to be out and able to help Dad again. Dad made me co-owner of the business. He told me that way when he passed away it would be my business and Larry could lay no claims against it.

His cousins did a decent job and we kept them on. Dad said they seemed to work a little harder since I came back. It made us both smile. The following year we hired Al and Joe. We kept our promise to the two men. They said they would be forever grateful to us.

A couple of years went by and things were going pretty good and the business was going stronger than ever. I made sure every vehicle we received went through the total checklist. I wasn't about to be spending any more time in prison.

One day I had to rush Dad to the hospital. He had a heart attack. I called Larry and he got a chance to see Dad before he died shortly afterwards. As promised, I inherited the remainder of the business and trailer court, lock, stock and barrel. I also got the house that I had lived in with Beth and then again with Dad after my release from prison.

Larry got money. Dad left him his saving account, stocks and bonds totaling nearly three hundred thousand dollars. He went away happy.

Recently he had married a woman of means. Her husband had died and he was there to console her. Her name was Cora and she was smart enough to have a pre-nupt. Her husband and her owned a real estate business and had done very well for themselves.

I met Cora and talked with her a few times. She was a good-looking woman and seemed intelligent. I guess the loneliness drew her to Larry. She could do an awful lot better, I thought.

This brings us to me meeting my current wife Abigail. We met at a party given by no other than Cora and Larry. Abigail was a looker. Great body and nice looking legs. She would be the type that Larry would have gone after. Too bad she was friends with Cora.

She had been married and divorced twice, with no kids either time. She worked in an insurance office in downtown Cleveland. Abby and I started seeing each other on a regular basis. The sex was great and it was nice being with someone again. It wasn't long before we decided to get married.

I had the salvage business incorporated so no one could get their hands on it. Abby brought nearly four hundred thousand dollars into the marriage and hoped that I wouldn't mind having a pre-nupt also. She told me she thought we would be together for life but unfortunately she had been married twice before.

Needless to say, I didn't mind. It fact it protected my assets as well. I knew she built her savings from money from her exes. I really did care for her a lot but not sure I'd call it love. There were always too many unanswered questions about people for me to totally trust them.

My first wife, Beth, agreed to let me see my kids from my first marriage after getting out of prison. It made me feel good that they still called me Dad and I was in their lives. I was now helping put both of them through college.

Life for me was going quite well. The business was doing great. Al and Joe became my best friends and I could see my off spring quite often. I was married to a beautiful woman and the sex was great. Things couldn't have been much better.

A couple of months earlier Abby seemed to act a bit strange. I thought it might be some kind of woman thing and let it go. I did keep my eyes open even though I had no reason to believe she would cheat on me.

I mentioned to her that me and my friends, Joe and Al were going fishing for a few days. There would be no way to get hold of us seeing none of us were taking cell phones. We've made the fishing trip the last six years so it wasn't anything new. Just some time away with the guys.

I did tell her that if she had a true emergency she could always call the Coast Guard. Up until now it never happened.

Chapter 2

The Detective was talking with his equipment operator. They were hoping to get a trace on the number that had called. They knew they were connected more than long enough. "Did we get a fix on the phone?"

"Yes Sir, but not a good one. The caller used a Trac phone which can be bought just about anywhere. They are disposable. You can add minutes if you like on them. I traced the number but that just told us it was bought at a Wal*Mart store. Could have come from anywhere. The tower that picked up the call was in downtown Cleveland."

"Can we narrow it down?" asked the detective.

"Not really, only to about a five mile radius of downtown Cleveland. Hardly much to go on sir."

"Send two men over to the motel and see if we can find out anything. Mrs. Bell, we'll need the name of your motel and your room number. Maybe someone saw something or even a hall monitor might have picked up something. See if Larry Bell's car is still in the parking lot."

Abby gave the officer the information he requested along with the make of his vehicle. Again she was worried and asked about the ransom.

I went ahead and spoke up. "I'm not giving him a fucking nickel. You want his fucking cock so bad, use your own money to pay his ransom. By the way, I think we should notify Cora, seeing it's her husband who was abducted."

"No, we can't call her," said Abby.

"On the contrary, Mrs. Bell. We need to talk to her and see what she might know," said detective Able. "Besides it's her husband and she deserves to know he has been abducted."

"Detective, let me call her. I'll ask her to come to the house and you can question her here," I requested.

"Fine, but get her here as soon as possible," said Detective Able.

"Hello, Cora, Terry here. Is there any chance you can come to our house? It's something important we need to discuss with you," I asked Cora.

"Does this have something to do with Larry? He was supposed to be in Pittsburgh and he's not there. Do you know where he is?" asked Cora.

"No, I don't know where he's at. A Detective is at our house and needs to talk to you but not over a phone, so please hurry over here," I asked.

****

Cora was there within fifteen minutes. I met her at the door and took her hand as she entered the living room. "What's going on? Where's Larry? Is he all right?"

"Mrs. Bell...." said Detective Able.

"Just call me Cora since there are two Mrs. Bells here. Where is Abby anyway? Is she here?"

"She stepped into the bathroom. Cora, can you tell me what you meant when you said your husband wasn't in Pittsburgh?" asked Detective Able.

"Do you know where he's at? Why isn't someone telling me anything?" Cora was getting shaky.

I spoke out. "Cora, Larry has been abducted. Listen please! The people who abducted him thought he was me but took Larry by mistake. He's alive but they are asking a ransom."

"My God, I can't believe this! Why would anyone abduct Larry or even you Terry? It doesn't make sense."

"Cora, we need you to tell us everything you can that happened in the last few days," said the detective. "We talked to your husband for a few seconds and know he's alive. We are trying to find out where he is being held."

Cora was a bit nervous but said she would tell them everything she could remember.

"Well, lately I have been wondering if Larry has been cheating on me. He was to go to Pittsburgh for two days for one of his shows. He goes to a lot of home remodeling shows. He gave me his motel and room number and said he was sharing a room with another salesman to help cut costs. He has done this many times. This time he seemed a bit different or nervous."

"What makes you think he might have been cheating?" asked the detective.

"He's been more distant lately. You know, too tired to make love. He's also been gone more than usual. Usually one day shows. I needed to know for sure so I was going to have him followed to Pittsburgh.

"He left yesterday morning and said he would be gone for two nights. He even called me when he said he had arrived. What he didn't know was I gave his motel and room number to a Private Investigator. I know it was wrong but I needed to know if he was cheating on me. It cost me a thousand dollars but would be worth it to find out that my husband was faithful to me.

"The PI called me this morning and said there was no Larry Bell there. He was registered at the motel and the PI even talked to the other man in the room and he told my PI that Larry did pay for half the room but said he had another engagement, but he didn't know where. He stopped by my office this morning and refunded me five hundred dollars. He said it didn't feel like he earned it since he never saw Larry."

Abby had walked into the room, her eyes all red as though she had been crying. Cora went up to her to give her a hug but Abby held her hands up.

"What's going on? What's the matter, Abby? First you say my husband is being held for ransom and now my best friend is crying and doesn't want me near her. What aren't you people telling me? Terry, you never lie to me, what's going on?"

I handed Cora a beer and told her to sit down. I told her the whole story and about the abduction where they took Larry from the motel room thinking it was me. "The reason they thought it was me is because my fucking wife was doing that with your husband."

"What? Larry and Abby are having an affair?" Looking at Abby Cora said, "You two-faced bitch! When I told you that I thought Larry might be having an affair you comforted me and told me he wouldn't do that to me. Now I find out it's you having the affair with him." Cora started crying.

I put my arm around her and pulled her to me. After she regained her composure the detective asked if there was anything she could add? ‘Add?' I thought. ‘Was he fucking kidding or what?'

"He's been gambling a lot and has lost a lot of money. I don't know if that would have anything to do with it since they wanted Terry," replied Cora.

The detective asked me is there anyone who I think would try and abduct me. Any enemies or anyone who knew I would have ready cash available.

"That's just it," I said. "I'm worth a lot of money, or at least my business is, but I don't have anywhere near that kind of cash that I could tap quickly. I would need time to sell mutual funds and stock. No way that I would be able to get over say a hundred thousand quickly.

"As far as anyone trying to get money, maybe my asshole brother set this up himself. Since he's sleeping with Abby he probably knows she has a few hundred thousand she could get at quickly."

Abby yelled out. "He'd do no such thing. He loves me and we were going away together. He has never asked me for anything. You're just jealous of him; you have always been."

"You fucking slut-whore!" screamed Cora. "You can have the asshole. I've spent enough on him. He even took money from my account. I should have pressed charges. After his return I want nothing more to do with him."

Detective Able could see things were getting out of hand. He asked everyone to just take it easy for now. "We still have to find the abductors and Larry Bell. Mrs. Bell," looking at Abby. "We need to find a way to get three hundred thousand dollars. Your husband has made it abundantly clear he isn't going to help. Are you able to get that kind of money together?

"Cora, it is your husband. Do you have that kind of available funds?"

Cora looked over at me. "What should I do Terry? I have a couple of hundred thousand but it's all I have left. He is my husband until I file for divorce."

"Don't waste a fucking dime on him. He doesn't deserve it. He's used you and spent your money for years now. He wants Abby, let her use her finances to bail his ass out."

"It would take almost all I have," replied Abby. "You two are horrible! He's your brother and your husband Cora. Don't you care at all?"

I spoke. "He's an asshole that fucked my wife and cheated on a far better woman. You want to save his fucking ass, then go for it. Personally, I don't give a shit anymore. Cora, I'll be ahead of you on the filing line in Divorce Court Monday. Please bring the coffee, black with sugar for me." Cora didn't say anything but did have tears in her eyes.

Detective Able sent two officers with Abby to go get the ransom money. It was most of what she had left from her savings. Since we got married I paid for everything. She did buy a few personal items for herself and now I suspect gave Larry some money or bought him gifts..

When they arrived back with a satchel of money I stood up and said that I was leaving.

"You can't go," said the detective.

"Why not? Either you arrest me, or I'm leaving and going to go back fishing with my friends. I will be nice enough to take my cell phone in case you need to call me about a funeral." I knew it was a horrible thing to say but at that moment I didn't care.

Cora told them she couldn't stay there at the house because of Abby. She would be going to her home and the detective told her he would have security watching her place till the ordeal was over. He would keep her updated on what was happening.

I looked over at Abby. "I'm going to stay at the cabin for a couple of extra days. As soon as you get your lover back I'll expect you to be moved out of my house. Remember the pre-nupt you wanted? The house is mine."

Detective Able wasn't sure what to do with me. He had no reason to hold me and me being there sure didn't help things. His main concern was getting the hostage back safely. He walked me to my car and told me to watch for anything suspicious. After all I supposedly was the initial target.

I told him I really didn't think I was but thanks for being concerned. I got in my car and headed back to the cabin. A few hours later Al and Joe returned to the cabin. They stopped in town and returned with fresh pizza and more beer. I told them everything that went on.

****

The next morning around eight o'clock I was in my boat and headed out to fish. As I went by the Coast Guard I pulled my very loud fog horn and waved to them. Something told me that they were told to keep an eye out for my boat. I was just making it easy for them. Al was doing the driving.

It was around noon when we headed back to the cabin. We made sure we blew the fog horn again in front of the Coast Guard. We didn't want to make their job of watching us any harder than necessary. Around three o'clock a car pulled up in my driveway. Al and Joe were both just leaving. Al in my car and Joe in his own.

It was Detective Able and two other detectives, all in suits.

"You sure don't look dressed for camping or fishing, so I guess you're here on business."

"Where are your friends going?" asked Detective Able.

"I told them I was going to lease the cabin for a couple of more days and they were welcome to stay. They asked if they could bring their wives and kids out to stay for a couple of days. Of course I said yes and they went to get them. I think they will love it out here. We all came here in Joe's car so I loaned mine to Al to get his family. So, why are you here? Where you able to save my wonderful prick of a brother?"

"I thought I'd come out and tell you what took place this morning. We were able to find your brother. He was pretty shaken up but he'll be all right. I think you were wrong thinking he was part of this abduction."

"I've known him my whole life and he has always been about women and money. I'll stand behind my assumption that he is involved." I told the Detective. "Would you guys like a beer or soda?"

"A coke would be nice. We're on duty so we can't have a beer. All right if we look around the cabin?"

"Go for it. It's kind of messy since we didn't clean up after breakfast this morning. I'll have to straighten it some before the guys get back here with their wives." I laughed.

The two other detectives kind of looked around and Able told me what went on after I left the day before and that morning. I didn't ask but I guess he wanted to gauge my thoughts.

His detectives came back from the motel and no one had seen anything. They said a man asked what room the Bells were in and he told him. The desk clerk said he didn't get a good look at him and they had people backed-up waiting to check out.

It seems that Larry and Abby had a room on the first floor with a hallway entrance and a glass door wall entrance to the outside near the pool. They figured that Larry was abducted and taken out the back way. They asked a number of guests but no one noticed anything. Larry's car was still parked in the motel lot.

He must have left quickly because most all his stuff was still there, even his wallet but there with no money in it. His credit cards were missing also so that maybe if the abductors tried to use them they might catch them.

The other two detectives came and sat with us. I actually got up and got some chips and dip. I went and got each guy another beverage and me a beer. "It looks like you're going to be here awhile if you're going to tell me what went on this morning. You guys might as well have something to snack on. Sorry, don't have any donuts."

The detectives were nice enough and they did thank me for the chips and dip. I also put out some pretzels. I sat back down and let Detective Able continue telling me his story.

He said the abductor did call at nine this morning. He explained that he wanted the lawyer, which Able pretended to be, to drop off the money. The section of town where he was to take the money and where Larry would be was a dangerous area and Abby would not have been safe there.

"So my dear wife took her own savings to pay the ransom on my asshole brother, her lover," I asked.

"Yes, she did. But, we do get the money back in over eighty percent of the cases," said Able.

"So you got Larry home safe and her money back. A good day's work for you."

"We did get Mr. Bell back but we lost the money trail. I'll try and explain what all went down. We thought we were looking for run of the mill kidnappers but these people had a plan. We were caught off guard," replied Able.

"You keep saying they, so you're sure there was more than one person involved?" I asked.

"According to your brother there was a knock on the door minutes after your wife left the motel. He thought she probably forgot something and opened the door. Two men in head masks and hoodies knocked him down and injected him with a knockout drug. The next thing he knew he woke up in what appeared to be a vault or enclosed room with no windows.

"The room was dark, dirty and pretty much empty. There was a bucket for him to use as a toilet and they left six bottles of water but no food. He said he tried yelling but no one answered. There was an old mattress on the floor. I know you think he set this up but I can't see him doing this to himself," said Able.

Detective Able continued on with his story. He was told to take the suitcase of money to an abandoned strip mall, which has been closed for years. I knew the area and it looked like a war zone.

There was an old car parked in one of the old garages. It was an abandoned green Chevy. He was to put the suitcase in the trunk of the vehicle, which had a key in it. Lock the trunk and take the key with him.

The abductors said they had another key to the trunk. Afterwards he was to leave the premises quickly and after the abductors came and checked out the suitcase to make sure there were no dye packs to ruin the money or any type of following devices, they would call the Bells' house and tell them where they could find Larry. Able said he told the guy that the terms weren't acceptable, but was quickly told if the money wasn't there by ten o'clock Larry would die and hung up the phone.

"We argued with the man on the phone but he said that was it or Larry dies. We didn't like the idea but we figured we could keep an eye on the building and the vehicle and see who might come and get the suitcase and we had no choice and went along. As they say, ‘Always follow the money trail,'" said Able.

I was interested in how this played out. "So, how did you rescue asshole Larry and not get the money?"

"I did like I was told and put the suitcase in the trunk of the old green Chevy. I quickly left and headed back to be with your wife to wait for the call to come in. Jim and Bob (he pointed to two detectives) were hidden across the street from the mall. They had binoculars and watched the building and car the whole time.

"We waited till noon and no one showed up. I was getting worried that something went wrong. I did have a device sewn in the lining of the suitcase and it showed it was still in the trunk of the car. About a half hour later Mrs. Bell got a call that the money was right and gave us a location to where we could find your bother Larry. He was two buildings down from the garage.

"He was in an old loan office or bank vault. The main locking mechanism had been removed but someone welded a big padlock on the door. There would be no way Larry could have gotten out. Jim used a sledge hammer and kept hitting the lock till it finally broke. Larry was sitting there in the dark in just his underwear. He had drunk five of the six bottles of water and did his best to use the bucket in the dark to relieve himself .

"We questioned him over and over and he had no idea who abducted him. All he could remember was two men in masks. He said they were really pissed when they had the wrong Bell. When they let him talk on the phone he had a sack over his head. Other than that one time he had been alone. That's why I don't believed he would have put himself through this."

"So, what happened to Abby's money? Didn't you just say your device showed it was still in the trunk?" I asked.

"This is unbelievable. While Jim went to find Larry, Bob went back in and opened the trunk of the green car. The suitcase was still there but all the money was removed. The old junker had a false bottom in the trunk. Underneath the vehicle we found a sewer lid had been removed and someone took the money from underneath the trunk and escaped out through the sewer system.

"We found where the person came out about a hundred yards behind the deserted mall. It was a deserted street full of dilapidated houses. We have nothing that we could follow to see who or where they went. We don't even know how many people were involved other than Larry said he was abducted by two men.

"We had an ambulance take your brother to the hospital but the paramedics said he seemed fine but was very dirty and shaken up. I followed your wife to the hospital to see him. Jim and Bob stayed on site for an hour looking for clues of any kind but found nothing. We had the old Chevy towed to our yard to be looked over. Doubt if we will find anything."

"Did you notify Cora?" I asked.

"Yes, she thanked us and said she would have to go see him and tell him she was applying for a divorce. She was happy that he was safe but that was about it."

The three detectives got up and I thanked them for taking the time to explain things to me but I wanted nothing to do with my brother. The best thing he could do was to stay the hell away from me. Able did ask me one last time if I knew anyone who might want to try and abduct me.

"Detective Able, I own and run a scrap yard and a trailer court. My two best friends were with me. My two cousins were running the yard while we were gone. I have a few part-time employees but no one that would try and kidnap me.

"Abby could have hired someone but what would she have expected to gain? I have bought her everything she has wanted till yesterday. She has never spent a dime of her money on me. I have a brother that is a money hungry gigolo that never has enough. I would still bet my two cents on him."

It was a while later when Al and Joe showed up with their families. Everyone seemed so happy but they knew about Abby and it made it a bit uncomfortable. She was never close to any of them. I told the guys that I felt a little like a third wheel or party pooper and that I would be staying at a motel for a couple of days.

I told them to enjoy the cabin and my yacht. I totally trusted them with anything I owned, they were true friends. I would be back in two days to dock the boat and close up the cabin. I told them all to enjoy themselves and I would see them at work on Monday.

I decided that some peace and quiet would be best for me. I had to think where I would go from here. I did call Cora and asked her out for dinner the next day; she accepted.

Chapter 3

I met Cora the following day. She looked beautiful but sad. She always dressed like a business woman since she was in Real Estate. We met at the Red Lobster for dinner. We drove separately.

"Why the dinner date Terry?" she asked.

"The last couple of days hasn't been the best and I thought we could use a friend. So, did you see my asshole of a brother yesterday?"

"Yes, I got there shortly after Abby left. I can't believe a friend would do that to me. I never want to see her again. Larry wanted to apologize but before he could I told him to go to hell. This was the last straw. First he stole from me and then cheats on me with Abby.

"I let him know I'm filing for a divorce on Monday and if he tries to fight it I'll file theft charges against him when he forged my name and took money out of my savings account. God, I don't know what I saw in him. I feel so...so stupid for marrying him and then staying with him."

"He's always been a smooth talker. I had hoped he had changed when he married you but I see he hadn't. I'm seeing my lawyer on Monday also. If you want to come along it's fine with me."

She smiled. "Your brother might be the smooth talker but you're the nice one. Always willing to help anyone who needs it. Larry was always jealous of you, but you probably already knew that."

"What did he say about the abduction? Did he own up to setting it up?" I asked.

Cora gave a slight laugh. "He said he had nothing to do with it. He said they were after you but he had no idea why. They seemed really mad when they got Larry instead of you. I'm confused about the whole thing. Is there something you know that you're not telling?"

"Let's drop this for now. Talking about my brother nauseates me. What about going to the lawyer together? We can even catch lunch," I asked.

"Terry, I've always cared for you. Too bad I picked the wrong brother but I didn't know you at the time. We should each handle our own divorces. Someone might think that we set up this abduction to be together." She laughed. "That doesn't mean we can't do dinner or lunch once in a while."

I enjoyed being with here. She seemed so kind and real; so easy to talk too. I've thought about her many times but would never let her know how I felt. We were both married and honored our vows. After the divorce I hoped that would all change.

I made it to the cabin on Sunday and Al and Joe, or their wives, had it all cleaned up. They thanked me over and over for the use of the boat. I told them they were welcome to use it anytime. I even got hugs from the wives. Al and Joe had already taken the boat back and tied and locked it up.

I said goodbye to Joe and his family and told him I'd see him tomorrow but that I would be late. I had to stop by and see my attorney. I drove Al and his family home since he didn't have a vehicle since us three guys rode together.

I called Abby on Sunday after I went back to my motel and told her I hope she was getting her stuff packed because I would be home Monday after work and she better be gone or would wish she had. It was a threat but I didn't care. I doubt if I would have done anything but throw her ass out.

She wanted to talk about money and the divorce. I told her it was all in the pre-nupt. She gets what she came in with. The house and most everything in it stays with me. When she said most of her money was gone since she used it for Larry, I replied she had my brother to thank for that. Talk to him and he might give some of it back. She got really pissed at me.

"You are a horrible wretched person. You would have let your brother die."

I cut in and said, "I wasn't fucking him. Maybe if he wasn't fucking my wife I might have considered helping him. Anyway, I'm going to the lawyer Monday. You'll be served with the divorce papers later this week. I suggest you sign them."

I received a call from Cora at work on Monday after I got back from the lawyers' office. She told me that Larry had stopped by her office and had taken his things out of the house. He had a small u-haul trailer. She had told him he had better only taken things that belong to him.

Cora mentioned that Larry did try to apologize again but she told him to just leave. She would forward the divorce papers to his company's office in Youngstown. She looked out the window when he left and saw Abby in her car following Larry. My guess was she rented the u-haul and my asshole brother helped her take her things.

When he reached the door Cora said she told him that she had dinner with me on Saturday and that I said if I ever see him again, he will be a dead man. I never said it but Cora said it scared the shit out of Larry.

Cora had told Larry and also Detective Able that she canceled all the credit cards that she knew of that Larry had that was in both of their names. She wasn't paying any more bills for him. She told Able because he was looking for any activity on the stolen credit cards. The case wasn't closed in his book till he caught the abductors and hopefully retrieved the money.

The case was now on the back burner since they found Larry.

Things were back to normal at work. At least twice a week Cora and I had dinner together. We both applied for our divorces and the attorneys said it would be about ninety days. We were both surprised that neither Abby or Larry questioned the divorce. Of course it would have been a waste of their money and time since we both had pre-nupts.

Cora and I became close over the next month or so and she confided in me. She told me that Larry had went to Las Vegas a few months before and that's when he forged her name and took over a hundred thousand dollars. She didn't find out till he was to take his two day trip to Pittsburgh. She had seen her bank savings statement.

At first she just wanted to tell him she found out but then she wanted to know why. She first thought that most of it was probably to cover gambling debts. She wondered if he might have been with another woman. Cora asked me if we could cross referenced Abby and Larry's schedule and found out that both were out of town that weekend. Abby was suppose to have gone to Iowa to visit her sister for a couple of days.

Now I acted more pissed than ever and figured, I told Cora, I needed a little revenge. It would have to wait a while though. It was too soon since the abduction.

We did find that Abby and Larry were living together outside of Cleveland. They were leasing an apartment for now. Both were still working. We didn't know if they were happy or not. Cora said maybe I should leave well enough alone; it was over.

Cora told me that Larry thought I was a joke going to prison to protect my Dad. There is no way he would have ever done that. She thought it was a wonderful and heroic thing to do for my ill father.

I knew I was falling in love with her. I just like being around her. Sometimes you just feel at home around certain people; Cora made me feel that way. I asked her if she would marry me when our divorces were final. We hadn't even had sex or made love yet, but I meant what I said.

"Terry, are you sure you want to do this. I must not be the best lover since my husband needed another woman." But she didn't say no and did smile.

"Our divorces are final next month. Let's celebrate together and spend a night together and then you can decide. I already know how I feel." I had no doubts about my feeling for her. Being around her made me happy.

****

The month passed and we both received our divorce papers the same week. Cora said she would go away with me for the weekend. I decided to take her to Pittsburgh. I reserved us a room at the Sheraton Inn. I knew it was a beautiful place and we could tour the city.

We left on Friday and I went through Youngstown to cross the Ohio River and into the tip of West Virginia and then over to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I stopped to get the car fueled up in Youngstown using a credit card. I then made a stop at the Chase bank but they were closed so I put a large deposit in the night deposit.

I mentioned to Cora that I meant to deposit money before I left but since it was the same bank I would drop it off there. It was too much money to be carrying around.

We had dinner at the Sheraton. It was wonderful being with her. After dinner and a few drinks we went up to our room. It was there I kissed her for the first time. It was everything I knew it would be. She was so soft and warm as I hugged her. We dimmed the light and got undressed. We lay on the bed and made love. Her breasts were soft except for her hardening nipples. She took care of her body and looked much younger than her thirty-eight years. I kissed down her soft belly, which was still tight.

She wasn't able to have kids and told me I didn't need to use protection unless I wanted to; I didn't. After kissing her tummy I moved down to her neatly trimmed bush. Rubbing my face over it and moving down into the valley between her legs, I gave her oral sex and felt her pussy getting wet. Her moans were turning me on.

The first time we did it, I got between her legs and held them up with my hands while she guided my cock into her. We started off slowly and built up momentum. We were both makings sounds and I felt her coming.

"Oh God! So Good! More please, Terry. Make love to me." That's what she said, "Make love to me." I pumped hard and faster into her till I erupted with a huge climax. I held my cock deep in her till I felt her spasms stop and my cock go limp.

I got up and took a piss and when I returned to the room, I turned off the light and cuddled up to my new love.

The next morning we took showers and toured some of the city seeing the Carnegie Institute, which is a museum. Afterwards we decided to go see a baseball game. We weren't Pirates fans, being from Cleveland but we just thought it would be fun acting like two young kids and had a wonderful time.

We went out to dinner again and back to our hotel where we had a couple of drinks and danced for a while. It was just nice being together. Later we went back to our room and made love again. This time I lay on my back and Cora slid down onto my cock. It felt so good in her hot and very wet pussy.

It was so hard to believe that my dumb ass bother would cheat on a woman like this. Beautiful, wonderful and fun to be with, a great lover, everything I could ask for in a girlfriend or wife.

The next day we headed back to Cleveland, going through Steubenville and up through a number of small Amish towns. We stopped and even did a little shopping and sightseeing. I dropped her off at her home and told her I would like to see her Monday after work.

On Monday she made us dinner. The woman could cook too. When we finished eating there was a knock at the door. Cora went and answered it; it was Detective Able.

"Mrs. Bell, may I come in? I have a couple of questions to ask you."

"Of course, please come in. Terry, Detective Able is here." I walked into the room and he seemed a bit surprised to see me.

"Before you say anything. Cora and I have been seeing each other occasionally. I want you to know it started after we found out about our cheating exes," I told the Detective.

"You're two adults, what you do is your business. I have a couple of questions concerning the credit cards that you canceled that were stolen. Do you still have a list of them?

"Yes, it's in the desk. I'll get it for you." She went and got the list and handed it to Detective Able. "What is this about exactly?" asked Cora.

"I noticed that you canceled one Chase card that you both used. Is that correct?"

"Yes, why?" asked Cora.

"Your husband had another Chase card that was used last Friday at a gas station in Youngstown. Larry Bell was in Youngstown Friday at his corporate office. He said he goes there every other Friday. He said he didn't use the card Friday and that it was one that was stolen."

"I only canceled cards that I had duplicates of. I never knew he had another Chase debit card. Was I on that card too?"

"No, he said it was just him on the card. He did say he ordered a new card but hadn't used it."

"So what do you want from me? You can have the list of the cards I canceled. That's the best I can do. I'm sorry I can't be of much help but it seems like Larry's problem not mine."

"You're right. I just needed verification on the cards you canceled. You see not only was this card used for a gas purchase but also there was a night deposit made after hours to the same debit card. Someone deposited a hundred thousand dollars into the account which beforehand had a balance of seventy-five thousand dollars."

"What?" I asked. "You're saying someone deposited a hundred thousand dollars into Larry's savings account? Who would do that other than Larry himself? Did you question him about it?"

"Yes, he wasn't sure what to say. Your ex wife was there and wanted him to tell her where the money came from and how come he didn't tell her he had another seventy-five thousand dollars?

"Your brother just clammed up and said he wasn't going to answer any more questions. You might have been right after all, Mr. Bell, about your brother but we can't prove anything. We were just monitoring the cards that were reported stolen. Your brother said that card wasn‘t stolen but he wasn‘t sure at the time he gave me a list."

After the Detective left Cora looked at me. I knew she wanted to talk to me. I decided to start the conversation by asking her if she was going to marry me.

"Terry, I care for you, I really do. I have one problem and it's a big one." said Cora.

"What is it? I'm sure we can work it out if we try."

"It goes back to the abduction. I feel you know more than you've told me. If we were to marry I need you to trust me. I've been married twice and both husbands have lied to me. I don't mean just the cheating. I don't want to go through that again."

"What makes you think I know more?" I was smiling at her.

"Terry, we were in Youngstown Friday. You got gas and stopped at the Chase bank to make a deposit. I've cared for you for a very long time. I know you felt the same about me but we were both all ready married. I believe you found out about Abby and Larry and set up this abduction thing so I would see what a bastard I was married to."

"So, what is it you want to know? If I knew about it? If I was involved?"

"Just the truth; that's all. I want to always be able to trust you and for you to trust me. You made that deposit at the bank knowing I would question it," replied Cora.

This was a big step for me. As big of a trusting step as I have ever taken except of Al and Joe. Cora was right; I should trust her more than anyone else if we were to be together and she should trust me as well.

"Ok! I'm just giving you a few particulars. One of my best customers had said he thought he saw me in Las Vegas. He said he walked up to a guy who he thought could have been my twin. The guy was all wrapped around a woman like it was his lover.

"He said, ‘How the hell are you, you dumb son of a bitch.' He said the guy got pissed at him and told him to get lost. It was then he realized it wasn't me. I showed him a picture of Abby and me and asked if it looked like the woman the man was hanging on? He said it was and I told him it was my twin brother and his wife.

"He said, ‘Damn, he was all over her and wasn't afraid to grab her right there in the casino. Must be newlyweds.' I just agreed with him. I called Abby's sister and she had never been there so I knew what was happening.

"Abby went to Las Vegas with Larry and I figured you were the one paying for the trip. I paid for her airfare supposedly to her sister‘s house. I checked Abby's savings account and she didn't withdraw any money for the trip. It was then I decided to find a way to get even. I enlisted the help a couple of close friends that I knew I could trust. The rest is history."

"Would you have let him die?" asked Cora.

"Of course not, but I wanted him to suffer. I despise him but he is my brother. I was just hoping you wouldn't help bail him out. I was surprised Abby put up the money but I'm pretty sure she thought she would be getting it back after they found the abductors."

"Why did you give him that money back on Friday? I don't understand."

"I threw away all his credit cards except the one in his name only after you mentioned you canceled all of them. I checked it out and when I found out the balance was seventy-five thousand dollars I figured it was the money he took from you. A card with that kind of money in it I was sure he would have reported missing or had a duplicate card but not told you.

"I bought gas on it to make Detective Able aware a card was being used. I deposited the money in his account. He's so money hungry that there is no way he would say he didn't deposit that money. At the same time I figured it would ruin the relationship between Larry and Abby.

"She would always believe that it could be her money, and actually it was," I laughed. "He would have no way to explain where he came across that kind of money."

"What did you do with the rest of the money?"

"I didn't want any of it. I bought shares of stock in my company for my two friends who helped me out. Fifty thousand dollars each and had it put in their names. They now each own about four percent of my company's stock. I told them not to mess with it for awhile. They both said they liked having an interest in the business.

"The last hundred thousand I held back for you. It's the money my brother stole from you. I figure you should put it in your real estate account seeing a lot of money must go through there."

Cora wasn't sure what to say. I was a criminal who abducted her husband. What do you do with a guy like me? I was as honest as possible, telling her the truth. She knew I did it for revenge on both Abby and Larry but yet also helped her. I took none of the money for myself.

"Well, I told you everything. I guess it's up to you if you feel you can trust me. I love you Cora and want you in my life and promise to not lie to you."

She kissed me and walked me to her bedroom and we made love.

Epilogue:

We got married two weeks later. We decided to rent the cabin and have the wedding there. It was so nice out there. Al, Joe and their families were there as well as all my other employees. Cora's parents were there. I met her sister and some of her other relatives and the few people she had working for her.

It was too cold to go swimming but everyone took rides on the yacht. No one ever mention Abby or Larry. Nothing was mentioned about the abduction but I did see Cora give Joe and Al, a hug. She knew who my true friends are.

We had the wedding catered and lots of food and music. Cora and I knew we were surrounded by true friends and family. Her parents were a bit shocked that I looked like Larry until Cora told them he was my twin brother.

After everyone left, Cora and I took a moonlit ride on the yacht. It was the first time I ever had sex on it. We spent four days fishing and just enjoying being together.

Cora and I did have a pre-nupt but it only covered the businesses. I owned my salvage yard and she owned her real estate business. Everything else we shared. I sold my house I lived in my whole life and Cora sold hers. We bought a condo together so we could both start over fresh.

It was wonderful coming home to Cora. Sometimes we ate out and at other times we ate at home. Al and Joe's wives became Cora's best friends. Since Cora couldn't have kids we often watch their kids. We were Aunt Cora and Uncle Terry. We're now considering adoption.

The last we heard Larry and Abby were no longer together. In fact we heard Larry moved out of state, which was fine with me. Cora did say she saw Abby a few times while she was out doing business. She had gained some weight and was dating someone in her insurance firm. She never speaks to her and just shakes her head when she sees her.

We've never heard back from Detective Able. So I guess the abduction case is closed for now.

For us, 'Life is good'.
